Therapy for Parents/Caregivers of Special Needs Youth

I chose this specialty as much as it has chosen me. As the parent of a special needs young man, I know how parenting a youth with special needs can be fraught with unexpected challenges and also surprise rewards.

Caring for a special needs child can present logistical and psychological difficulties. Parents of youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Learning Disorders, developmental disability, physical disabilities or other differences, may feel overwhelmed, depleted, and with time may see their emotional well-being affected. I take pride in being able to help you in your journey as a parent using a unique mix of clinical skills, professional training and, when relevant, apply my personal knowledge of such an experience.

My goal is to help you create a rewarding parenting experience and enhance your relationship with yourself, your child and others.

Some of the related issues I have experience with are:

  • relationship difficulties

  • self-blame

  • adjustment after a new diagnosis

  • feeling of loss, or grief

  • anxiety

  • anger management

  • feeling of isolation

  • feeling of helplessness or burn-out

  • depression
